Mental Health Wiki is guided by the following policies:
- All statements must be verifiable and give citations from reputable sources such as those above.
- Unpublished original research and opinion pieces are not accepted.
- Contributions must involve a neutral point of view. All majority and significant minority viewpoints that have been given in citable sources must be fairly represented. However, this does not mean that fringe viewpoints have to be included.
- Any material which might encourage suicide or self-harm is prohibited.
- Conflicts of interest, personal attacks and sweeping generalisations should be avoided.
- All material will be checked and that which does not conform to the editorial policy will be removed.
- Professor Tony Jorm will act as editor-in-chief, having discretionary power to edit or remove inappropriate content.
- Permission to contribute content is restricted to:
- Mental health professionals
- Employees of government health and human services departments
- Major NGOs dealing with depression or mental health
- University academics
- Consumer or carer advocates working for health services or major organizations representing the interests of consumers and carers.
- Contributors must register and state their affiliations. If these are acceptable they are then given permission to contribute.
- There are no geographic restrictions on contributions.
- Contributions should follow the Mental Health Wiki layout and style guide.
- No individual controls any article. Any article may be edited by a permitted contributor.
- Contributions would be subject to a “copyleft” licence, whereby contributors retain copyright, but agree to allow others to copy, edit and distribute their work in any way provided that: (1) attribution is given to the original author and (2) the copyleft principle must be retained to the work or any derivative work.
- Material which infringes copyright will be removed immediately.
